Bio

Laurie (Publicover Hillis) Mireau studied Education at Dalhousie and U. of Alberta, Edmonton, and worked as a classroom teacher, university lecturer and school administrator. She retired in 1994 to pursue full-time painting in Halifax. She is always inspired by the south coast of Nova Scotia. Fishing boats and reflections in water are favorite subject matter and she also enjoys painting people, buildings and still life. Laurie often uses watercolor for her detailed paintings but switches to oils or acrylics for larger painting designed for boardrooms or office walls. She offers classes in painting and drawing and particularly enjoys helping beginning painters develop skill and confidence. Laurie does commissioned paintings and murals.

Description of artist's work

Laurie renders detailed paintings of cityscapes, landscapes, and coastal marine scenes in vivid colors with watercolor, acrylic or oil. She provides drawing and painting lessons and welcomes commissions.
