(1906-1988) Pellan, born in Quebec City in 1906, studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Quebec, the The École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Academie de la Grande Chaumier. At the latter he came under the influence of artists such as Klee, Picasso, Leger, Miro, as well as the contemporary art movements of Cubism and Surrealism. His subjects included portraits, figures, landscapes and still life.

ERNEST LAWSON (1873-1939)
