Description of artist's work

Morrisseau was one the best-known Woodland aboriginal artists in Canada. Born in 1931, on the Sandy Lake Reserve in Northern Ontario, Morrisseau was strongly compelled to paint and draw the stories and legends his Ojibway shaman grandfather shared. His works are found in collections across Canada including the National Gallery of Canada.
