Description of artist's work

Lawson was born in Halifax in 1873. He studied art in Connecticut and in Paris where he studied at the Académie Julian and came under the spell of the Impressionist movement. In United States, he became a member of the Eight, a group founded by Robert Henri to help support progressive trends in American art.
