A fifth-generation Haligonian, Mark grew up in the city's north end not far from the Hydrostone District, and completed his first oil on canvas at age 11.
After receiving a BA and a BEd from Dalhousie University, Mark went on to study architecture at the Technical University of Nova Scotia from where he holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design Studies degree as well as a Masters degree in Architecture. Painting full time since 1996, his work continues to evolve, and he is a regular fixture every Saturday at the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market with his line of prints and greeting card. Mark's paintings can be found in countless private and corporate collection, as well as the Nova Scotia and Canada Council Art Banks.
