The Halifax Art Map society presents this guide to local galleries, studios, artists, artisans and shops. The Halifax region is home to many gifted artists and artisans who create their unique work here, display it here and sell it here and around the world. Whether you are looking for realism, landscape, abstract or functional art or craft – all can be found through the Halifax Art Map.
The municipality’s numerous private and public art galleries host frequent exhibitions year-round. Artists’ studios are equally abundant, and don’t forget shops and markets where locally-made art as well as art-making supplies can be found. Use this guide to find what you like and explore and engage with new work. Take note of the many celebrations of art throughout the year, among them the Peggy’s Cove Area Festival of the Arts and Halifax Art Map’s 2019 exhibition, Crossroads. Like and follow our Facebook page for current news about events, exhibitions and other activities.
Whether you walk, cycle or drive to the locations listed along the length and breadth of Halifax, Halifax Art Map will help you meet the artists, enjoy the exhibitions, and learn more about local art and art-making. Halifax Art Map Society thanks the participating artists, artisans, galleries, shops and advertisers for producing and supporting the unique artistic work that is inspired by this place we call Halifax.
