Michael Clutson ViewPoint Gallery

Mostly exterior digital photographs captured using multiple viewpoints at different times of day throughout all four seasons, Selected interior studio work focuses more on subject details using variable lighting conditions and camera settings. Post-processing methods may include multi-image stitching, focus stacking and manipulation (mostly ‘mirror flipping’ and/or layer rotation).
Mike has maintained a strong interest in natural history since his early fossil-hunting days growing up in southern England during the 1960s. As a largely self-taught photographer he now aims to communicate more widely his diverse 21st century portfolio of nature-inspired images, many of which have been captured digitally throughout Nova Scotia . These range from minutely-detailed still life (e.g. rocks, plants and ice) to atmospheric seascapes and landscapes, with a focus on both orderly and chaotic natural processes expressed as pattern, colour, form and tone. Additional projects include the changing architectural aspects of Halifax’s evolving urban landscape and its socio-environmental consequences.
