Rodney trained as a machinist. He personally built his first wood lathe which he still uses today. Working with wood offered him great artistic freedom and fueled his passion for intricate, detailed craftsmanship. " Every wood has its own texture and like a painter uses different paints, I use different woods and grains." Each work completed by him are original. Rodney avoids using a duplicator on his lathe, preferring instead to produce his work from visual calculations. “That’s what a custom order is all about”, he says proudly!
