Carol Morrison - Art 1274 Hollis Gallery

Carol paints landscapes, still life studies and portraits.  Her main inspiration for landscapes painted around Nova Scotia are Tom Thomson’s vigorous and colourful sketches, and for portraits the wonderful brushwork of Singer Sargent.
Carol came to Canada to work as a scientist in Halifax. Closure of her laboratory led her to pursue her lifetime love of painting, and in 2005 she graduated from NSCAD. She has exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions, as well as juried shows of the SCA and the CIPA across Canada. She received the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Award in 2005, and in 2010 a provincial creation grant for “Portraits of Injustice”, which was shown across Nova Scotia. In 2022 she painted portraits of drag performers for a show celebrating diversity.
