Arthur Lloy was born in Halifax and studied painting at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, as well as at Saint Mary’s University. Arthur was influenced by the dramatic landscape paintings by the artists in the Group of Seven. Like these artists, Arthur would go out into the rugged Nova Scotia landscape with his paint box and easel. In that way he caught the light and colours of that beautiful landscape.
